The Suzhou Symphony Orchestra has consistently kept its dual missions of promoting classical music and advancing the creation of Chinese symphonic works. Under the guidance of Maestro CHEN Xieyang, the orchestra has dedicatedly crafted the “Grand Music from China” concert series. This series, which focuses on original and unique Chinese symphonic works, has captivated audiences‘ attention for years with its deeply rooted cultural significance and artistic resonance, producing a notable beneficial impact on society. During the Sixth Hua Xia Music Festival, the orchestra will continue to use symphony as its paint brush to narrate compelling Chinese stories, upholding the artistic vision of “Sinicization of symphony, and internationalization of Chinese symphony”. This concert will creatively explore the distinctive expressive possibilities of Chinese traditional instruments while staying true to the essence of Chinese traditional music. Through commissioned works, international competitions, and carefully crafted arrangements, they will showcase a brand-new musical language where the tradition meets modernity. This year’s “Grand Music from China” concert will focus on three significant themes: Promoting and reviving China’s exceptional traditional music culture, spreading and supporting original Chinese symphonic works, and highlighting the distinctive character of Jiangnan culture. The orchestra will use diverse music format to create a musical celebration that is both futuristic and traditional. By spreading the timeless elegance of Jiangnan life and resonating with the modern voice of Chinese musical history, this concert will explore new paths to infuse Chinese symphonic music’s development with vitality.
